Dust Legs of the Barrens of Gor

Indian Flute Music - Warrior Chant.mp3

May the stars carry your sadness away,
May the flowers fill your heart with beauty,
May hope forever wipe away your tears,
And, above all, may silence make you strong.

Chief Dan George

Background:

Cut off his hair due to the loss of his family.

He wandered the Barrens until he came to Dust Legs trading camp.

Here he has found his home amongst another band of his people.

He learned during his wandering how to tend to himself when sick. He watched the animals, he listened to the spirits. He was called by the spirits to begin his training as medicine man. After several vision quests, he found that he had the touch to heal and so his new life began.

Tabuk, I am sorry to hurt you

But my people are hungry.

My words are tied in one with the great mountains,

with the great rocks, with the great trees,

in one with my body and my heart.

All of you see me,

one with this world.

Yokuts prayer

A hundred thousand years have passed

Yet, I hear the distant beat of my father's drums

I hear his drums throughout the land

His beat I feel within my heart

The drums shall beat, so my heart shall beat,

and I shall live a hundred thousand years.
